Why Not Buy Silver Rounds?
Silver rounds look and feel like silver coins, and are considered bullion.
However, they are not currency. They have no face value (e.g., USD, CAD, AUD), and are not minted by a national mint. Private mints around the world produce these rounds.
Advantages to Owning Silver Rounds
There are many advantages to owning these pieces of silver.

Since they aren't official currency, a government can't recall them and confiscate them from you if currency controls (capital controls) are put in place. Although confiscation is unlikely, there is always that small risk with denominated coins.

Silver rounds
are often easier to purchase. Since private mints produce them, you can usually buy them from the mint in addition to regular silver bullion sources.

Rich Dad Silver Rounds
There is a much greater variety of rounds than there are silver coins. Mints produce them with their own name on them, but also produce them with "branding."
For example, Robert Kiyosaki has a very limited edition of Rich Dad rounds (just 8,888 of them). Kiyosaki's rounds are more of a collectible, as they sell with a large premium, currently more than the price of silver (unless you buy a tube of rounds at the reduced price of $35 per ounce.

They'll likely be a bit cheaper to purchase than silver coins. The price of all silver is based on the silver spot price at the time you make a purchase. However, the premium you'll pay may be lower for rounds.
Disadvantages of Owning Silver Rounds
Yes, there are some disadvantages to owning rounds.

Since they aren't official currency, in coming years people wanting to buy silver may not want rounds. They may want the security of purchasing denominated coins produced by national mints.

You can travel with silver coins at their face value ($1, $5, etc.). Rounds are not "cash," so their value is considered to be the current spot price, which could be dozens of times a coin's face value.
